Pale Ale in da heat

Gonna be the hottest day of the year so far, so why not wait till mid day to start?

It's 90 out side and over 100 in the garage.

Decided to go with the pale ale this time. I start liking the hoppy stuff when it gets hot out.

8 lbs 2 row

.5 lbs dextrine

.5 lbs 60L

1 oz Perle @ 60

.5 cascade @ 15

.5 cascade @ 10

.5 cascade @ 5

.5 cascade @ flames be gone

05 yeast

Took no time at all to heat the strike water today. 3 gallons of 162 water settled at 155. Perfect.

I have been noticing that with my larger tun that after the first run I can add all my sparge water and do one batch sparge. But, I'm not getting the efficiency that I used to get by doing 2 batch sparges. Will probably go back to that from now on.

Other than not getting a big boil off everything went great. Got sort of a low OG with the small boil off but 1.040 is ok.

Maybe I'll do what John Parsons was talking about and add some sugar right to the primary to boost the gravity a smidge. Maybe.
